Molding
Metal Injection Molding (MIM) follows a process similar to plastic injection molding, utilizing comparable equipment and techniques. A pelletized feedstock, consisting of fine metal powders and a binder, is heated to approximately 200°C and injected under high pressure into a mold cavity, forming a “green part.” Once cooled, the part is ejected, allowing for a continuous and efficient production cycle.
The binder facilitates uniform metal powder distribution during injection, while multi-cavity molds enhance efficiency for high-volume manufacturing. To compensate for shrinkage during sintering, mold cavities are designed about 20% larger, with precise shrinkage rates calculated based on the material composition, ensuring exceptional dimensional accuracy in the final component.
Debinding
